As part of the Disney+ Day celebrations, a new logo for the I Am Groot series was released. The tweet announcing the post also teased that the series would be premiering soon.
The series is set to capture baby Groot’s glorious days growing up, getting into trouble, and having adventures among the stars. The series may be targeted to younger audiences, but let’s face it — who can resist watching the adorable baby Groot?
Groot was first introduced into the MCU as an adult sentient tree creature. After an untimely demise and a smart save, Groot returned as a baby version of himself in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. In later appearances, we see him as a temperamental teenager.

Although Marvel has not revealed any specific plot details about the series, it seems that it may be set either during original Groot’s childhood or during new baby Groot’s GOTG 2 timeline. It is speculated that Groot will return to his home Planet X at some point during the series.
I Am Groot has been in development since 2020, with Marvel’s Creative Head, Kevin Feige, stating that the show would be more of a series of short films. Production began only this August, with Vin Diesel confirmed to return to voice baby Groot.
The series will use photorealistic animation, which will be directed by Kirsten Lepore, known for her short films Sweet Dreams, Bottle, and Move Mountain.
As of now, I Am Groot’s release date is TBA, and a trailer is not expected anytime soon either.
Marvel does have quite a few series for Disney+ before I Am Groot even makes it into the line-up. Next up is Hawkeye releasing November 24, followed by Ms Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and the Guardians of the Galaxy Special.
I Am Groot should then fit in snuggly between the Special release in 2022 and GOTG 3’s release in 2023.

I Am Groot is an upcoming Marvel animated television series created for the streaming service Disney+. Developed as a series of short films, it will follow Groot’s adventures as a baby and feature his home, Planet X.
