New Hawkeye Image Features Barton and Bishop on a Mission

We have a new set picture from Hawkeye!

An Entertainment Weekly exclusive from their Fall TV preview, the still has Clint Barton and Kate Bishop (in her signature purple costume) looking aghast at something beyond the frame. Behind them is a wall with a faded logo of KB Toys.

Since the once-popular toy franchise ceased operations in 2009, it leads me to believe that the duo are exploring an abandoned warehouse or plot. In any case, it is quite the nostalgic location, and I’m sure the older Hawkeye will have a cheeky remark about it.

It’s only been a few days since the release of Hawkeye’s official trailer that formally introduced us to Kate Bishop, the always-hyped, energetic Hawkeye fan. She tries to follow in her idol’s footsteps and adorns a vigilante costume akin to Ronin.

And despite all the good work Kate aims to do, this little cosplay has landed both the archers into huge trouble.

The show is also meant to serve as a Hawkeye transition, with Barton predicted to retire (for real this time!) and Kate coming to terms with the responsibility that being a superhero entails.

The set picture is accompanied by a little insight from the show’s executive producer Trinh Tran:

There’s the family man [Barton] that we’ve portrayed, a more serious character who is no-nonsense and gets through what he needs to do to accomplish the mission. But here he’s pit against Kate, who is super energetic — and at times annoying. It’s putting the two of them together and seeing what comes out of that.

It is true — MCU Barton is a little sterner than his comic book counterpart. But now with more focus on his character, we may get to explore a side of things we haven’t seen before.

That coupled with the Christmas theme, a Rogers musical, and quite frankly, a lot more comical mishaps than Barton’s used to (as seen in the trailer), we’re sure to enjoy light-hearted moments with two of the world’s best archers.

What I’m most looking forward to is the mentor-student relationship that Barton and Bishop will develop.

The first episode of Hawkeye will premiere on Disney+ on November 24. The cast will feature Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and even a much-anticipated appearance of Florence Pugh’s Yelena.

I can’t wait to see the Hawkeye duo. Can’t November get here any quicker?
