Disney+ can be cheeky. A lot. They featured an all-new image of the “real astronaut” Buzz from the upcoming spin-off, Lightyear, on their Disney Plus Day banner.
With Cars’ Mater by his side on the homepage, Buzz looks buff with his classic green-and-white spacesuit. It also has all the nitty-gritty we see the toy Buzz flex about in the Toy Story series.
The space ranger’s passion-driven eyes suggest he would go to “infinity and beyond” to achieve his dreams, just like Buzz fans saw earlier in the Disney movies.
After the thrilling teaser trailer showcasing a glimpse into the origin story of the inspirational and famous Space Ranger Buzz, voiced by Chris Evans, this image is the only official thing released about the upcoming Pixar movie. Check out the photo below:
While Disney+ hasn’t revealed anything else, the teaser trailer is keeping everyone on their feet. People who grew up watching the Toy Stories and got introduced to Buzz are the ones who now make up a majority of the working population.
To have a spin-off origin movie of one of the most lovable characters after 20+ years, they’re sure to go crazy over it.
On top of that, the creators have given the actual Buzz spacesuit resembling the unforgettable green and white suit, complete with wings, jet boosters, and other things.
Director Angus MacLane revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Lightyear could easily be a movie that Andy saw in the theaters.
Watching the astronaut achieve his dreams would have made him buy the Buzz Lightyear toy. Andy watching the film is how Lightyear was kicked off.
The prequel is set years before Toy Story and will be a sci-fi adventure on the real astronaut. Buzz is a young test pilot who becomes a space hero, giving birth to the action figurine.
Lightyear will hit the theaters on June 17, 2022.
