Aquaman comic fans, rise! Lead actor Jason Mamoa and Director James Wan shared photos of the marine superhero in a brand new suit that will definitely make anyone go crazy.
The first Aquaman movie was released in 2018, and the sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is currently in the making, which won’t be released until late 2022. But that isn’t keeping the director or the actor from giving glimpses of the new movie!
This time, Aquaman is offered an incredible-looking stealth suit, directly inspired by the 80s comic!
Jason Mamoa shared two photos giving the first official look for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, looking majestic in both.
In the first photo, he shows off his physique in the gold and sea green suit holding the Trident of King Atlan. The more exciting thing comes off as a fan swipes, wearing a toned-down navy blue and black suit.
Director Wan explained the brand new suit in his Instagram post. He wrote that it’s made of Atlantean tech based on cephalopod’s camouflaging ability. He also added that both he and screenwriter David Leslie Johnson were inspired by the 80s comics blue suit.
The suit Wan is referring to was first introduced in the 1986 four-issue miniseries created by Neal Pozner, offering a refreshing look.
With the suit being inspired from the old classic comics, it looks like this sequel will be taking a deep dive into the history of the superhero’s original stories.
The sequel’s plot is still not yet known, but there have been theories of the movie focusing on Necrus, another doomed underwater city but a mysterious one as it keeps on changing locations.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who plays Black Manta, teased saying, “I think the script is better than it was in the first one,” to the Hollywood Reporter. It will also see the return of Amber Heard as Mera.
The team is doing a great job keeping everything under the wraps, but if the Necrus rumor is anything to be believed, they can be in for a great, complex ride.
