Episode 5 Recap
Episode five begins with a streak of lightning destroying all the electric poles and white snakes emerging from the ground. Kiyoshirou is seen distressed in his room as he is surrounded by flying gadgets trying to hit him.
The next day at school, strange things happen to Kiyoshirou, who believes that he is cursed. When he reaches home, he sees Hiro’s digivice floating in the air and a message written in blood, asking him to wear it.
He puts it on, and Jellymon materializes before him. Hiro follows him home, suspecting a Digimon behind Kiyo’s worries. Kiyo tells him that he thought curses were chasing him, so he placed thousands of virtual talismans around the city by hacking into people’s accounts.
Despite Jellymon’s appearance, the talismans started going off, indicating that something was strange. Jellymon and Angoramon suspect the same. Hiro asks Ruri and Angoramon to meet him at Kiyo’s house. Meanwhile, he explains to Kiyo about Digimon and the digiworld.
Kiyo also finds out that the text written in blood was just ketchup. Jellymon makes fun of Kiyo, stating how he was a child prodigy who got a master’s degree in the US at thirteen but came back to Japan due to his love for anime and manga.
Hiro asks Jellymon why she was hanging around Kiyo, and she tells him that Kiyo was so scared of her presence that it was too funny for her to leave.
As they talk, all digital systems in the city are corrupted, and Angoramon spots a gigantic, scary-looking Digimon along with the white snakes from earlier. He calls Hiro to inform him about the same. The giant Digimon is called Majiramon, who is at the ultimate level.
Majiramon looks like a dragon and is an envoy of the God of wealth. Other high-level Digimon, Quetzalmon, Bitmon, and Goatmon accompany him. Suddenly, the white snakes appear in Kiyo’s room, indicating that Majiramon is heading their way.
Angoramon tells them that Majiramon punishes anyone who disrupts the flow of money. Since Jellymon changed Kiyo’s talismans into an illegal program to hack into the digital money management system, they were going to face the wrath of Majiramon.
Hiro tells Kiyo to delete all the virtual talismans, but they are running short on time. He quickly switches them to the digiworld so that Majiramon does not hurt anyone in the real world. Hiro and Ruri decide to distract Majiramon as Kiyo deletes the mess he created to buy him more time.
Jellymon helps Kiyo delete all the talismans as Hiro, Ruri, Gammamon, and Angoramon face the impending threat. Gammamon evolves and starts fighting Quetzalmon, Bitmon, and Goatmon.
The three mighty Digimon capture the four, as Majiramon uses his tail to destroy the dorm and address Kiyo and Jellymon. Majiramon then attacks them with 108 arrows, but Kiyo defends them both with a last remaining talisman. As the previous amulet is destroyed, the flow of money is restored.
Kiyo then apologizes to Majiramon for causing him trouble. Majiramon forgives him and flies away with the others. They return to the real world, and everything is restored to normal.
About Digimon
Digimon, short for “Digital Monsters,” is a Japanese media franchise offering toy pets, manga, anime, games, films, and even a trading card game. The franchise was created back in 1997 as a series of virtual pets, influenced by Tamagotchi/nano Giga Pet toys.
The franchise gained momentum with its first anime, Digimon Adventure, and an early video game, Digimon World, both of which were released in 1999.
Digimon, the series focuses on monsters like creatures, who inhabit a “Digital World,” a parallel universe that originated from Earth’s various communication networks. Digimon hatch from eggs called Digi-Eggs, and they go through Digivolution, which changes their appearance and increases their powers over time.
The effect of Digivolution, however, is not permanent. Digimon who have digivolved will find most of the time revert back to their previous form after a battle or if they are too weak to continue. Most of them can even speak.
