Episode 17 Recap
Hiro and Ruri visit Shiraden, the control room of Shiraodake Geothermal Power Plant with Kiyoshirou. Kiyoshirou developed the room, which is especially durable against the snow. He is given the responsibility of a few things in the development program.
Kiyoshirou is there for some inspection and wants everyone to wait for a while. At the same time, a hologram emerges out of the snow. It detects that the powerplant is a source of unnatural heat and heads straight towards it.
Meanwhile, Hiro and Gammamon visit the turbine, and Ruri walks in the hallway with Angoramon.
Ruri, wanting to make a giant snowman, goes out while Angoramon goes the other way to find a spade. The hologram comes near the plant and begins its attacks. It attacks the plant with ice missiles and then starts dumping tons of snow on the plant.
Jellymon tells Kiyoshirou that it is Frozomon. Angoramon rushes towards Ruri. It tells Kiyoshirou not to provoke Frozomon, but he can’t hear her. The place starts to freeze, and Angoramon cannot open the door. She returns back to the control room.
Hiro and Kiyoshirou start to freeze, so Angoramon wraps them around her arms to warm them up. Ruri returns and rushes towards the control room but encounters Frozomon and is attacked. Kiyoshirou tries to stop Frozomon with barrier seals while it is chasing Ruri but cannot do so.
Ruri has to run out as she forgets the way towards the control room. In the control room, Gammamon evolved into BetelGammamon to keep himself warm in the control room, but he starts to give up due to the cold.
Angoramon starts to freeze as well. Jellymon can keep herself warm with her electric shocks but cannot do the same for Kyoshirou.
Frozomon continues his attacks on the plant, freezing it more and more. It spots Ruri outside, she tries to stop him, but he attacks her. Jellymon interferes in the nick of time and stops him. Ruri suddenly starts to see the instructions to guide TeslaJellymon.
She starts to attack Frozomon fiercely and is about to defeat him when some small holograms stop her. They apologize for Frozomon’s behavior calling it their captain.
They say they need a cold place to live, and the captain helps them with that. The holograms help to cool down Ruri’s friends. They say their goodbyes and move ahead.
About Digimon
Digimon, short for “Digital Monsters,” is a Japanese media franchise offering toy pets, manga, anime, games, films, and even a trading card game. The franchise was created back in 1997 as a series of virtual pets, influenced by Tamagotchi/nano Giga Pet toys.
The franchise gained momentum with its first anime, Digimon Adventure, and an early video game, Digimon World, both of which were released in 1999.
Digimon, the series focuses on monsters like creatures, who inhabit a “Digital World,” a parallel universe that originated from Earth’s various communication networks. Digimon hatch from eggs called Digi-Eggs, and they go through Digivolution, which changes their appearance and increases their powers over time.
The effect of Digivolution, however, is not permanent. Digimon who have digivolved will find most of the time revert back to their previous form after a battle or if they are too weak to continue. Most of them can even speak.
