The Boys Will Be Returning for a Diabolical S4!

The tale of Billy Butcher and the Boys trying to take down Homelander, the Seven and Vought is sure a compelling one, as its viewership and critical ratings prove. The superhero satire that serves us social commentary wrapped in double entendres has grown exponentially, making us wonder if there will be a future season.

So even though we’re smack in the middle of S3, I will clear your doubts about S4.

Amazon Prime has renewed The Boys for Season 4. S4 may have eight episodes (like the previous seasons) and is expected to air sometimes in 2023.

Amazon announced the renewal only a couple of days ago and they cited a bunch of positives that indicate the show must go on, which includes a 17% increase in viewership from S2 and an equally positive reception of the animated spinoff, The Boys Presents: Diabolical.

But Amazon isn’t fooling anyone as this was not a recent decision. Early in March, Karl Urban butchered the renewal news by talking about how he was scheduled to film The Boys till the end of 2022, even though S3’s shooting and post production had wrapped up.

Fans knew this could only mean one thing: S4 was unofficially confirmed. Of course, now Amazon has put any worries to bed.

When will The Boys S4 air?

Given how early the shooting has started, S4 may air in early to mid-2023. As usual, it is expected to have eight episodes.

However, since a spinoff is also in the pipeline, it is possible that S4 may be pushed to make room for its debut. The timeline may get clearer after S3 finishes airing.

What will The Boys S4 be about?

The showrunners have not made any comments about what lies ahead for S4 or any special plot points being tackled. So once again, we’ll have to wait till S3 wraps up to understand how S4 will carry the show forward.

Going by the current route, we will definitely have Billy and the Boys going against Vought. There’s an interesting Victoria Neuman arc that may carry into a future season as well. S3 also introduced the comic book favorite, Soldier Boy. I doubt they’d bring him on just for one season, so we may see more of him in S4 as well.

Lastly, despite S3’s big agenda being annihilating Homelander, I don’t think that will happen anytime soon. I’m super interested if we’ll get to see a new side to him in S4!

About The Boys

The Boys is an American satirical superhero streaming television series developed by Eric Kripke for Prime Video. Based on the comic book of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which was originally published by DC Comics under their Wildstorm imprint before moving to Dynamite Entertainment, it follows the eponymous team of vigilantes as they combat superpowered individuals who abuse their abilities.

The show is a satirical take on the superhero genre and showcases a world where superheroes are corporatized and controlled by companies. What happens when these superheroes step out of line and rub some boys the wrong way, is the story.
