I. The Captains
Chapter 223, titled “The Choice of the Team,” begins with Sawamura and the Seidou players getting ready for the semi-finals on the hot summer day. The crowd gathers at the Meiji Jinguu Baseball Stadium and excitedly anticipate the upcoming Seidou vs. Sankou match!
Both the team captains decide the innings play with a round of rock-paper-scissors and Miyuki winning. Sankou takes the offensive in the top of the inning and Seidou at the bottom.
The captains shake hands, and the Seidou team expresses their surprise at Miyuki, actually winning at rock-paper-scissors.

On the benches, Kawakami is reminded of the coach’s announcement in the morning telling the team that Nori will not be pitching in today’s game. The other pitchers prepared accordingly, while the coach told Kawakami to wait for his extended results.

Ace of Diamond, also known as Diamond no Ace, is a Japanese shōnen baseball manga series written and illustrated by Yuji Terajima and published by Kodansha. Weekly Shōnen Magazine has serialized it from 2006 to 2015.
A sequel titled Ace of Diamond Act II started in 2015. The series follows one Eijun Sawamura, a baseball pitcher with a very unusual changeup pitch that has occurred naturally. Sawamura plans to go with his friends to a local high school and play baseball to the best of their abilities.
