Chapter 221, titled “Discomfort,” begins with a pleasant visit form the alumnae. Seidou High, along with their seniors observing Amahisa’s pitching, discusses how much of a dangerous pitcher he is and strategies to face him.

With their detailed observation, they layout points for themselves to work on against Amahisa’s pitching. They expect Amahisa will be using his new pitch that gave Yakushi trouble. They exchange pleasantries and talk about their experience.

They advise pitching to the best of his abilities because Kawakami and Furuya also have his back. All the students gather around meeting the seniors and telling their stories.

II. Nori’s injury

In the afternoon, Seidou begins a short practice with ten pitches only. The coach takes a stand in the pitcher’s box with Sawaura pitching. Sawamura begins throwing his different numbered balls with speed and curving his throws.

Their coach observes Sawamura’s game and decides to have Sawamura play from the start of the game with full energy till he can hold out. Upon hearing about testing the new pitch, their coaches seem startled. Seidou’s other teammates notice Nori’s discomfort in the right arm, and the panel changes back to coach visibly shocked at the fast splitter thrown by Sawamura.

They learn he can control his throw and has stable pitching. Soon Tanba enters the practice ground and informs the coach about Nori’s injury and insists he gets checked! This chapter ends with the players shocked about Nori’s condition!

Ace of Diamond, also known as Diamond no Ace, is a Japanese shōnen baseball manga series written and illustrated by Yuji Terajima and published by Kodansha. Weekly Shōnen Magazine has serialized it from 2006 to 2015.

A sequel titled Ace of Diamond Act II started in 2015. The series follows one Eijun Sawamura, a baseball pitcher with a very unusual changeup pitch that has occurred naturally. Sawamura plans to go with his friends to a local high school and play baseball to the best of their abilities.

However, one scout from the prestigious Seidou High approaches him and offers him a scholarship and a chance to make it to the nationals. Sawamura decides to pay a visit to the school, and it changes his entire outlook on the future.
