Chapter 284 of Diamond no Ace Act II, titled “The Amazing People,” was the manga’s latest installment.

Seidou’s performance drops in this chapter as Inajitsu’s Mei throws two consecutive changeups. Furuya and Tojou are out in no time, and finally, Seidou’s batting for this inning ends. It’s now the bottom of the sixth, and Asou makes an entry, surprising everyone with his quick recovery.

Furuya gets ready to pitch as Mei takes his stance in the batter’s box. Seidou’s coach tells Sawamura to get prepared for his turn to pitch as Furuya nears 100 pitches. The match resumes, and Furuya’s first ball is a fastball.

5. Chapter 284 Recap

It’s one out with runners on first and third when Furuya comes to bat. Mei throws his next pitch leading to a swing and a miss at a changeup.

Inajitsu cheers, rejoicing that their ace managed to corner Furuya. The count is two strikes, no balls as Mei prepares himself to throw the third ball.

His powerful throw results in a strikeout swinging. Inajitsu cheers louder, showing off Mei’s power as he demonstrates two changeups in a row.

Toujou tries to hang on but is retired on a grounder to third. Inajitsu loses in this inning, but Mei stops them from getting too far ahead.

The Inajitsu players praise Mei for his powerful performance, but he says he won’t be satisfied until they send a ball out of the park.

It’s now the bottom of the sixth and Inajitsu’s turn to bat. Asou returns to the field, surprising everyone due to his speedy recovery. Furuya gets ready to pitch, and the coach reminds Sawamura that he’s nearing 100 pitches. If his performance deteriorates, he will need to take Furuya’s place.

The first in the batter’s box is the five-hole pitcher, Mei. His batting average in the current tournament is .532, showing that his batting skills are top-notch too. Seidou’s catcher, Miyuki, senses that Mei is out for revenge, but he decides that he won’t make it easy for him.

Furuya’s first pitch is a fastball, resulting in a foul. Surprised by his timing, Mei wonders whether his fervor is born out of high motivation or too much pressure.

Ace of Diamond is a Japanese shōnen baseball manga series by Yuji Terajima and published by Kodansha. Weekly Shōnen Magazine has serialized it from 2006 to 2015. A sequel titled Ace of Diamond Act II started in 2015. An anime adaptation ran from 6 October 2013 to 28 March 2016.

The protagonist is Eijun Sawamura, a baseball pitcher with a very strange changeup pitch that is natural to him but surprising to others. Sawamura plans to go to a local high school and play baseball with his friends, to showcase their skills and win the matches.
