The police start the investigation into Matt Caldwell’s disappearance. Dexter is part of the search party as the base camp is set up at his cabin. He uses his ATV to hide the blood trail he discovered earlier. The investigation provides enough proof that Matt illegally killed the white buck on protected land. Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 3 Speculation

The girl from the pilot episode is shown being held hostage in what seems like a motel room. The kidnapper wanted her to know she’s being watched and wrote ‘you’re already dead’ under the camera that was conspicuously placed inside the room. It is likely that whoever kidnapped her was also responsible for the string of missing girls in the town.

Dexter: New Blood Season 1 Episode 2 Recap

Dexter is unsure of how to navigate the conversation with the son he abandoned. Harrison tells him about how he found the letter after Hannah died and how he looked for Dexter everywhere and assumed he was dead until he saw an instagram photo and discovered his new identity as Jim Lindsay.

When he asks him about the letter, Dexter tells Harrison that his decision to leave him with Hannah had nothing to do with Harrison and more to do with personal issues that were grappling him after he lost Rita and Debra.

Dexter discovers that he’d accidentally left a blood trail after he killed Matt. Angela asks if she can set up the base camp for the search at Dexter’s cabin and is also surprised to meet Harrison. Harrison is clever enough to refer to Dexter as Jim. Dexter uses his ATV to cover up the blood trail and he sends Harrison back to get Angela when they reach the corpse of the white buck.

The Seneca elders chance upon the white buck and it helps Dexter point the investigation in a direction that makes it seem like Matt skipped down after illegally killing a white buck on protected land.
