Summary:
- Bethesda has announced Beta Update 1.8.87 for Starfield on December 1st, 2023.
- The update will fix the space matter stuck to the player’s ship during space travel and unlimited gun glitch issues.
- The patch to fix New Atlantis getting stuck to player ships will be released later.
Starfield had recently announced the update 1.8.86 on November 20th, 2023. This update introduced the DLSS, Nvidia Reflex Low Latency, DLSS Frame Generation, and an “Eat” option to consume items from the inventory.
Bethesda released beta update 1.8.87 for Starfield only two weeks after the previous update. This update fixes the issue that caused space matter like asteroids and other bodies to get stuck to the player’s ship and another issue that caused random guns to spawn in newly created weapon cases after loading a save.

However, the patch notes mentioned one particular scenario that has not been fixed yet. The developers said the glitch causing the New Atlantis to be attached to player ships has not yet been set.
Bethesda clarified that this issue will be addressed in a later update. The other issue addressed was one many players have exploited in the past few weeks.
Players could use only one Polymer and two Titanium pieces to build a Weapon Case in an Outpost and then save and reload the game. This would allow them to get random gun spawn in the Cases.

It must be kept in mind that the patch announced is currently in beta. As a result, only those players who opt into the Beta program on Steam can download these updates and patches and enjoy smoother gameplay.
This also means that those who want to have infinite weapon glitches can continue to do so until the official patch drops in a couple of weeks.
Until then, the Galaxy is at the Players’ disposal to explore to their heart’s content. Starfield has high replayability, but like any other RPG, it has a steep learning curve before the game becomes enjoyable.
About Starfield
Starfield is an action role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was announced during Bethesda’s E3 presentation in 2018. The game takes place in a space-themed setting, and is the first new intellectual property developed by Bethesda in 29 years. The game was released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 6, 2023.
It is set in an area that extends outward from the Solar System for approximately 50 light-years called the Settled Systems. Around the year 2310, the two largest factions in the game, the United Colonies and Freestar Collective, engaged in a conflict called the Colony War. The game takes place 20 years after the war, with the major factions enjoying an uneasy peace. The player assumes the role of a customizable character who is a member of Constellation, an organization of space explorers.
