There are many titles releasing later this year, but Halo Infinite is easily one of the most anticipated one amongst the triple-A games. Returning to the roots of the franchise, all the subsequent updates that have released in the past few months point to Halo Infinite being quite the promising title. The latest dev update goes into detail about the audio design for the game.
A small group of audio designers and composers for Halo Infinite, Sotaro Tojima, Chase Thompson, Kyle Fraser, and Joel Yarger discussed what fans can expect from the game in terms of audio. The team wanted to recapture the “legacy essence of Halo” and, at the same time, “strengthening the excitement and impact of Halo’s combat.” Since the music is one of the main things fans are looking forward to in this game, we hope the design team has met their goals.
343 Industries has been regularly releasing tracks from Halo Infinite, but we can expect the full tracklist to release only after the official release of the game. When questioned about the campaign music, Tojima stated that they have tried to capture various emotions within the music, such as hope, while also showcasing the beauty and majesty of the new environment surrounding Master Chief, known as Zeta Halo.
Along with sound design and music, the scale of Halo Infinite is an integral part of the game. This title is set to be much larger than the previous titles, even featuring a dynamic weather system and day/night cycles which will have an impact on gameplay. The team has also stated that travelling to different area in the map would change the atmosphere and ambiance with regards to the sounds the player will hear during gameplay.
It’s quite evident that 343 Industries is doing its best to make sure that its vision of Halo Infinite is fully realized. While we have very little information about the first gameplay trailer, fans must appreciate the release of info regarding the mechanics of the game. Let’s hope we see a gameplay trailer or two dropping soon as well!
