Destiny 2: Lightfall was accidentally released earlier than the scheduled date in some regions. This gave rise to a serious bug problem which prevented players from logging in. Bungie was quick to fix the issue, but this gave fans a glimpse of the much-awaited Lightfall DLC.
Bungie officially declared that Destiny 2: Lightfall will be released on February 28th, 2023, at 9 AM Pacific Standard Time. Destiny 2 servers will be temporarily down from February 27th in preparation for Lightfall.
Lightfall has a darker tone as compared to the rest of Destiny 2 and will introduce a unique vaporwave visual effects style.
With the expansion, Destiny 2 will have a new location, campaign, legendary mode, a new set of armor, and raid. Players can indulge in fresh quests, loot, and Strand subclasses— the Berserker, the Broodweaver, and the Threadrunner.
The most exciting feature in the Lightfall DLC is the inclusion of the most powerful enemy in the Destiny universe— The Witness. Players will have to make use of every ability and weapon in order to defeat this dominating adversary.
Now that only a couple of days are left till launch, Destiny 2 players will have plenty of time to prepare for Lightfall so that everyone can fully experience the game as a whole. However, due to the global time differences, some players will receive the update later than others.
The size of the Lightfall DLC will differ from platform to platform. Pre-loading will be available after the game is brought offline for maintenance. This way, Bungie can make sure that players can play the game after the servers are up and running again.
Destiny 2 will make minute changes to in-game mechanics for raids, strikes, and dungeons. Hence, some balancing elements can be expected to keep the game stable. Lightfall is certainly something to look forward to since it is said to vastly change the outlook of Destiny 2
