Bungie has been very straightforward about Destiny 2’s upcoming release. The developers have some interesting plans to implement, and players won’t have to wait long to test it out. With major ecosystem reworks of almost the entire game, the upcoming Lightfall DLC can change the standard of Destiny 2.
Game director Joe Blackburn revealed that Destiny 2 will be significantly more difficult after the launch of the Lightfall DLC. So far, the game has been focused mostly on getting the players comfortable with the changes that have been introduced so far.
Blackburn also stated that Destiny 2 has become very easy to navigate over the past year, due to which many players feel that the game is slightly monotonous. As a result, engagement rates have also dropped substantially.
The developer’s goal is to make every moment of Destiny 2’s gameplay as exciting as ever. So, this wouldn’t be possible if players cruise through every content with ease.
The Lightfall DLC will feature new subclass abilities with more utility and flexibility in player loadouts. This along with the Guardian’s current status makes Destiny 2 an easy play. Regular playlist content will be simpler compared to day-one Raids.
There’s just one tiny problem: unlike the increased difficulty, the rewards system will remain unchanged.
While we still have a lot of reward tweaks planned throughout this whole year, when we ask Guardians to play Vanguard Ops for pinnacles or weekly challenges next season, we want to make sure that content has kept up with the player power increases over the years.

Bungie hasn’t exactly mentioned this, but even though Lightfall will make the game more difficult across the board, better rewards is still a far-fetched goal.
Basically, players will have to play the same old content, but tougher, until Season 21 arrives. It doesn’t take a scientist to recognize that this situation is just outright bad. Will it be worth the grind? We can only hope so.
