Before the launch of the Lightfall DLC, it was announced that Destiny 2’s difficulty is set to go up a ramp. This is a recurring conversation in the community that comes up when issues of power creep become obvious inside the game’s sandbox.
Bungie launched an update yesterday i.e., on March 30th, 2023. Nearly 200,000 players completed the Root of Nightmares raid within the 48-hour contest mode, sparking debates over the game’s difficulty again.
The enemy HP scalar has been reduced by 10% for all non-raid/dungeon Legend and Master activities. Regarding a full-fire team, the co-op enemy HP scalar has been reduced by 33% in Legendary Avalon.
The Commendations system also sees few changes, allowing players to enjoy the sweet joy of reaching a milestone rather than rushing and breaking a sweat.
Furthermore, “Hawthorne’s Weekly Challenge” commendation’s target has been reduced from 20 to 5, Guardian Rank Objectives have removed requirements for players to give commendations from Ranks 7,8,9, and Commendation score requirements have also been reduced:
- From 460 to 200 for Rank 7
- From 790 to 477 for Rank 8
- From 1290 to 910 for Rank 9.
The weapons also see more balancing with the new update, tweaking their stats to make the game more enjoyable and less stressful affair. Many Exotic Weapons, including Graviton Lance and Salvation’s Grip, have been handed buff/adjustments.
A sweeping rework of the weapon hip fire reticles sees it displaying better information. A 10% PvE buff was also added to the sniper rifle’s damage.
The Khvostov, a weapon seen in the cutscenes, was also addressed. It was also noted that they’re working on a new way to represent the scenes on screen – moving past the traditional method.
The company also laid out plans for the Commendation System, confirming a second sweep as players are not quite satisfied with its impact on the progression of Guardian Ranks.
Thus, Bungie is following up well and listening to the community’s demands with prompt fixes. This makes the game more enjoyable and backs it up with a solid roadmap that promises not to disappoint.
