Just today, Destiny 2’s latest expansion, Beyond Light, went live, bringing a whole lot of new content along with some significant changes to the existing ones! The patch notes for the update has now been released.
Here are some of the sandbox changes that have been implemented in the game – Traveler’s Chosen will now have reduced muzzle flash intensity, Increase in Point of the Stag’s Max Power Level to 1310, fixed a bug that prevented some weapons from dealing precision damage to the Divinity cage (e.g., Eriana’s Vow), Anti-barrier rounds can now penetrate Taken Phalanx shields, with Anti-Champion mods being shifted to armor, and Orbs of Light has been changed to Orbs of Power as they can now be consumed by Light and Dark subclasses.
Another notable change is that The Mountaintop, along with some other pinnacle weapons, have now been seriously nerfed into the ground. Essentially, Bungie has probably given up on trying to balance them.
Along with that, new kiosks are also being opened in the Tower, where players can pick up previously discarded quests.
“Here, players might acquire various Exotics and Legendary Pinnacle/Pursuit weapons that were once available through now-retired quests. As many of these Exotics were tied to lengthy quests or difficult objectives, we wanted to make sure their prices reflected those previous efforts. Players will need an amount of Glimmer, destination materials, masterworking materials, and an Exotic Cipher or Ascendant Shard in order to purchase the Exotic or Legendary which they desire.”

Other than that, the backgrounds and the login screen have gone down a shade of dark. The character creation menu has also received some changes, where the character’s head and hair models will be replaced by “improved versions,” and the gender selection has been replaced by “masculine” and “feminine.”
However, if I’m honest, the sheer number of changes that have arrived through Beyond Light makes it very difficult to cover in a single post.
Regardless, the consistent updates and the continuous work that Bungie puts towards Destiny 2 show how the game can easily survive where other looter-shooters have consistently failed and fallen into the abyss.
