One Piece recently released chapter 973, titled “The Kozuki Clan,” which wraps up many plot points about the Wano-arc. This chapter most likely is the last chapter regarding the Kozuki Oden flashback.
This implies that One Piece will continue the storyline in the present timeline, starting chapter 974, which will be released on 15th March.
One Piece, Chapter 973, confirmed the fact that Kyoshiro, Denjiro, and the Witching Hour Boy are the same. This revelation has positive implications for the fight against Kaido, with the Renaissance team having a spy in the enemy ranks.
Denjiro, one of Oden’s retainers, had not been shown in the present storyline, and now the reason for that is apparent. Soon after Oden’s death, Denjiro locked himself in a shrine and did not come out for several months.
During this time, he was possessed by the Demon of Anger, which changed his face to the point that he was unrecognizable.
He made his way to the Flower Capital, claiming to be “Kyoshiro the Mad.” He seduced Orochi by promising him wealth and women, which resulted in Orochi hiring him, and thus, Denjiro became Kyoshiro.
The Witching Hour Boy was introduced early in the story as a person who roams in the poorest regions of Wano, dropping enormous amounts of wealth. His identity was unknown until now. Chapter 973 confirms that he is in-fact the Witching Hour boy.
Looking back on the story, the personality traits of these three had been hinting at them being the same for a long time. Such as:
- Denjiro was the one handling all the finances for Oden in Kuri; even his introduction was him swindling a pot-seller by confusing him with finances. Kyoshiro is the money-handler for Orochi; both of these things go hand in hand.
- Kyoshiro was set up as someone who is goofy and goes to sleep mid-conversations. This is because, as he is the Witching Hour Boy, he stays up all night to spread the wealth. Therefore he is sleepy in the day.
- Kyoshiro insulted Orochi, calling him a coward, in his introduction. This was fishy, but it now makes total sense as he is Denjiro in disguise.
This revelation will be in favor of the Wano alliance in the fight against Kaido as the Flower Capital is currently under Kyoshiro’s control.
