The wait is finally over for North American fans- Aniplex and Funimation have revealed a window for the release of the English dub version of Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train! Last year, the movie premiered in Japan to extremely positive reactions and broke many records during its theatrical run. An English dub trailer was released recently and North American fans will be delighted to know that the film will release in early 2021.
Demon Slayer revolves around Tanjiro Kamado, a teenager. When his family is killed and his sister turned into a demon, Tanjiro trains to become a demon slayer. The series has been immensely popular since its beginning in 2016.
Demon Slayer was first a very popular manga by Koyotaru Gotōge, which ended its run last year. It had been turned into an anime series in 2019 and the movie is a direct sequel to that. Demon Slayer will take place on the train and focus on the trio- Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke, and also add Rengoku, the Flaming Hashira, to the mix.
With awesome animation and jaw-dropping action sequences, the film rocked the Japanese box-office. It displaced Spirited Away as the country’s highest-grossing film and, despite, the pandemic became the highest-grossing film of 2020.
It remains to be seen how Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train is received in North America.
