Koyoharu Gotoge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba proves to be loved beyond boundaries every time. The recent screenings in Japan overturned the box office rankings, and now it’s time for the West to experience it.
On Friday, Crunchyroll and Aniplex of America announced that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village- will premiere in North American theaters on March 3. Tickets are currently on sale.
The film opened in Japan on February 3 and sold 813,000 tickets, earning 1.15 billion yen ($8.75 million) in its first weekend.
A special early screening red carpet event will also be held in Los Angeles at the Orpheum theater on February 18. Natsuki Hanae (Voice artist for Tanjiro Kamado), Aniplex producer Yuma Takahashi and Aimer (theme song artist) will be a part of it.
The screening mentioned above is a part of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village- World Tour. It will commence in Tokyo as a two-day event, followed by special events in Los Angeles, Paris, Berlin, Seoul, Taipei, and more.
The third season of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, which will cover the entire Swordsmith Village story arc, will premiere in April. The first episode will once again be a one-hour special as it was in the previous story arc.
Ufotable is returning to produce the series with Haruo Sotozaki as the director. The main cast is also returning to voice their respective characters.
About Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge. Its publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump began in February 2016 and ended in May 2020 with 23 collected tankōbon volumes.
In a world filled with demons and demon slayers, Kimetsu no Yaiba follows the lives of two siblings Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado after— the murder of their family at the hands of a demon. Their hardship does not end there, as Nezuko’s life is spared only for her to live as a demon.
As the oldest sibling, Tanjiro vows to protect and cure his sister. The story traces the bond of this brother-sister or better yet, demon slayer and demon combo against the odds of an arch antagonist and the society.
