Tanjiro deduces that there has to be a fifth demon that acts as the vital spot for the monster, and he quickly catches its scent as it hides in the bush. Still, the Four Emotion Demons relentlessly attack while Tanjiro, Genya, and Nezuko try their best to fight them off.

Meanwhile, Tokito remains trapped in the water bubble, unable to use his breathing. Tanjiro, at the brink of death, continues growing stronger and faster as he uses the flames once more, while Genya runs through the forest trying to find the vital demon with Tanjiro’s directions.

Genya slices his sword through the tiny fifth demon, but it shatters into pieces, and not even a direct gunshot would kill it. While he focuses on destroying it, an attack comes from behind. On the brink of death, he remembers his childhood with an abusive father and a mother who would protect them with her life.

Genya is left at home protecting his younger siblings one night when their mom arrives late. However, a swift attack from a demon slice through all their heads before he can even react, and as he sprints to find medicine, he sees his older brother standing beside their mother’s corpse, a wilting body of a demon.

He regrets the things he said at the time in a panic, and now he’s going to die without being able to apologize correctly. In time, however, Tanjiro shows up, telling him to focus on killing the demon, and Genya tells him to behead the monster since he cannot.

Tanjiro runs through the woods and chases after the little demon, and as he approaches close, his sword bursts into flame once more.
