We all loved Demon Slayer: Mugen Train a lot, and it isn’t surprising that the film broke tons of records both in Japan and globally. At the same time, a part of us wanted more of that enthralling yet tragic movie.
The film surpassed all expectations, but we never got anything on how Rengoku was present on the train or what led to those events. The only ones who knew all these details were the manga readers.
There’s no need to worry about that now because the Demon Slayer franchise understood the struggles of anime-only fans and got something for us.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba debuted with its season 2 cour 1 that retells the events of the Mugen Train arc in more detail. It comprises seven episodes that will be released weekly.
The episodes will be released on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Netflix weekly with English subtitles. The first episode is titled ‘Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku’ and focuses solely on how and why Rengoku was aboard the Mugen Train.
Unlike the film, this anime series will give you the same divine knowledge and insight that manga readers boast about. Think about it. Demon Slayer is saving anime-only fans from all the flexing they would have had to witness from the manga readers.
Moreover, I doubt that anyone was satisfied with the Rengoku content we got from the movie. The Flame Hashira’s role is much more significant than just one arc, and no matter how great the film, it still didn’t do justice to his character.
Season 2 has everything you can imagine and more. The animation surpasses the film and season 1, the story is as good as it can get, and it has Rengoku alive for most of the plot. I mean, that covers every reason why you should watch it.
This Mugen Train arc will set the course for the upcoming Entertainment District arc episodes too. This one would have the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui join Tanjiro and the others on their mission.
The Entertainment District arc also introduces a new fearsome demon that the protagonists will have to deal with and promises to deliver a flamboyant season to the fans.
