The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga was launched in February 2016. After 200 chapters of fantastic content, Tanjiro had finally completed his goals — to turn Nezuko, his sister, back into a human & to aid the Demon Slayers in killing Muzan Kibutsuji.

As Muzan’s body withered away in the sunlight, despite all the damage suffered, it looked like all was right with the world.

Sadly that was not the case, as Muzan had transferred his consciousness into Tanjiro’s body, effectively making him into a Demon King who could withstand the sunlight.

After rampaging a little, he was injected with Lady Tamayo’s medicine (thanks to Kanao), which has effectively turned him back into a human.

Is it a happy ending?

This long journey to end Muzan’s millennia-long reign has seen many casualties. Even though Demon Slayer is not full of gore, readers have seen a lot of characters being killed in Tanjiro’s journey.

People may say that the demons suffered many casualties too, but it’s important to note that they were also innocent humans at one time, as we’ve seen in many of their tragic backstories.
