Muzan Kibutsuji has been ruling over the demon world in the shadows for over a millennia, hunting humans for food and experimentation to create demons that can survive the sunlight. When Muzan crossed paths with Tanjiro’s family, it put Tanjiro on a track to cure his sister after she had become a demon.
After a long and perilous journey Tanjiro, along with the Demon Slayer corp, has finally defeated Muzan Kibutsuji, putting an end to his millennia-long reign. Chapter 199, titled “Millenia Dawn”, shows Muzan’s body burning in the sunlight starting to disintegrate.
The chapter picks up where chapter 198 left off – Muzan pinned to the wall by Tanjiro’s sword as the sun begins to rise. In an attempt to get away, Muzan cuts off Tanjiro’s arm, cutting his strength even more. Tomioka steps up at this point and helps Tanjiro to keep Muzan pinned.
In order to avoid his body being burnt instantly, Muzan envelopes himself in the flesh which slowly burns as he tries to find shade and escape. As he envelops himself, Tanjiro also gets caught up in the flesh and gets trapped inside his body. However, everyone from the Demon Slayer corp does their best to get in his way and stop him from escaping. After all the exits are blocked, Muzan tries to dig into the ground for sunlight, and just as he is about to escape Tanjiro slices his way out. This is where the manga ends, showing Muzan’s body starting to disintegrate.
Now that Nezuko has been turned back into a human and Muzan is on the brink of defeat, it looks like the Demon Slayer corp can rest easy.
