In Kimetsu no Yaiba, what differentiates a demon from a human or better, a Demon Slayer? Undoubtedly, their diet. But beyond that, in terms of strength, a Demon Slayer can parallel a demon.
Demon Slayers use swords to slay demons but similarly, demons possess unique abilities for a counterattack. Thus, these immortal beings use spells called ‘Blood Demon Art’.
Demons are immortal and malignant creatures that rely on human blood to grow stronger. Despite previously being human, they have barely any recollection of their human memories.
They possess a malicious intent to devour humans. ‘Blood Demon Art’ is accessible to high-level demons or powerful demons, ergo, the ones who devour a lot of humans. They’re powerful spells unique to its utiliser.
Blood Demon Art
Blood Demon Art is unlocked by powerful demons. Each Blood Demon Art is unique to them and must be developed for it to be an asset. Demons can practice and hone these spells enough to create specific techniques under it. It is a way of manipulating one’s body to increase their physical prowess – thus, one can morph themselves or alter their bodies and more. Let’s analyse the Blood Demon Art known to us.
Nezuko Kamado
Nezuko is the first Demon to access Blood Demon Art without eating humans. Her Blood Demon Art is Exploding Blood. It allows her to transform her blood into flames and explode it at will.
Kibutsuji Muzan
Muzan’s Blood Demon Art includes creating spiked barbed-wire from his own flesh and blood to entangle his opponents and killing them.
Lady Tamayo and Yushiro
Lady Tamayo’s Blood Demon Art is called Enchanting Blood. She uses the scent of her blood to create an illusion or manipulate her opponents.

Twelve Demon Moons
Kokushibo‘s ( Upper Moon One ) Blood Demon Art is his Flesh Sword. He created a katana by detaching a piece of his flesh. The blade possesses multiple eyes along the blade, guard and hilt, therefore, giving him great vision during the battle. Due to his regenerative abilities, even the sword is able to regenerate if chipped or destroyed. He is also able to manipulate his body to form blades.
Doma‘s ( Upper Moon Two ) Blood Demon Art consists of multiple techniques based on his ability to produce ice and frost from his blood and body.
Akaza ( Upper Moon Three ) possesses the ability of ‘Technique Deployment‘ where he is able to create shock-like wave attacks after deploying a technique. By tracing bloodlust, he is also able to track his opponents.
Nakime ( Upper Moon Four ) possesses the ability to manipulate a fortress. She can create exits and entryways along with changing the positions of the rooms. Further along, she gains the ability to detach eyeballs which allows her to spy on people at a long-range.
Hantengu‘s ( Former Upper Moon Four ) Blood Demon Art allows him to divide himself into multiple and younger forms based on emotions, ranging from Anger, Joy, Sorrow, Pleasure, Fear, Hatred, Resentment – all having unique abilities.
Gyokko‘s ( Upper Moon Five ) Blood Demon Art allows him to summon fish-like or octopus-like creatures from jars – it is unknown whether he creates them or summons them from a different dimension. He is further able to manipulate the scales on his body and trap his opponents in the vase-like structure made of water.
Kaigaku ( Upper Moon Six ) uses his Blood Demon Art to enhance his swordsmanship. This allows him to make his Breath of the Thunder style capable of cracking skin and burning his targets too.
Enmu‘s ( Upper Moon Six ) Blood Demon Art allows him to enter his target’s dreams and control them in it. He is capable of destroying the minds of his targets by targeting their ‘Spiritual Core‘.
Daki‘s ( Former Upper Moon Six ) Blood Demon Art is capable of creating multiple slash attacks that are released simultaneously to cut her opponents.
Gyutaro ( Former Upper Moon Six ) is able to detach his flesh to create a pair of Sickles Scythes that release blades of blood. He is able to release them in long-range and use them as defense too.
Rui’s ( Lower Moon Five ) Blood Demon Art is called Cutting Thread. He uses patterns of threads that are razor-sharp to slice his opponents to pieces. The rest of the Spider Family developed their art by sharing Rui’s blood.
Kyogai‘s ( Former Lower Moon Six ) Blood Demon Art is called Drumming. He drums to change the orientation of the rooms in Tsuzumi Mansion. These drums provide him full control and therefore, help take the target by surprise.
