In Episode 8 of “Delicious in Dungeon,” we saw many interesting things about Marcille; to summarize it all, the whole episode was focused on Marcille. At first, we thought Marcille knew Falin because they were in the same party, but originally, they had been friends ever since their school days.
We also saw a cool fight between Marcille and an Undine. Unlike the usual Marcille, who just blasted off any threats using her magic, this time she had to fight carefully against the undine since her fire attacks were the only thing effective, and she lost her staff, so her attack power was also limited.
1. Episode 9 Release Date
Episode 9 of “Delicious in Dungeon” will be released on Thursday, February 29, 2024. It is usually released every Thursday, and you can watch the episode as soon as it is released on Netflix.

No, “Delicious in Dungeon” is not on a break this week, and Episode 9 should be released as usual on the above-mentioned date.
2. Episode 9 Speculation
According to Chilchuck, the dragon wasn’t too far from their current location. At max, it would take them two days to reach where it was last seen, but with Marcille’s condition right now, they can’t proceed with their plan. Marcille is out of mana, and without the waterwalk spell, they are stuck in the dungeon. Marcille needs to rest and regain her energy to help the party again. Hopefully, by the start of episode 9, she will be all good to go, and our heroes will move forward.
3. Recap of Episode 8
Marcille woke up from a nightmare and immediately tried to check Laios’s heartbeat. She freaked out when she couldn’t detect it, but Chilchuck pointed out that, obviously, she couldn’t hear anything over his armor. As Laios slept more, we learned about Marcille’s past and her life in her school days.
She was a brilliant student in her school life that everyone admired. She was more intelligent than anyone else at the institute. Thus, all the other students held her in high regard. One day, they were tasked with breeding their own spirits. Marcille did excellently, but most of the students failed at it. Surprisingly, Marcille’s project wasn’t the best one.
The best project belonged to Falin, who was Marcille’s classmate at that time. Marcille asked her to teach her how she did so well. To explain this, Falin took Marcille to a nearby mini dungeon that was teeming with spirits. That is how their friendship began. By the time the flashback ended, Laios had woken up, and he talked about how Falin talked about Marcille in her letter.
Laios fell asleep again, and Chilchuck planned their next actions. He woke Laios up when the candle ran out. Marcille had boiled some water to wipe herself, and when she went to dump the excess water in a nearby water pool, an undine came out of it and attacked her. She fell into the pool while trying to defend herself, making the situation ten times worse.
Laios and the others came running, but there wasn’t much they could do without fire. Marcille also lost her staff in this chaos, so her small fire attacks were all she had. She got heavily injured while fighting off the undine, but at one point, Laios got hold of her, and they all ran away.
However, Marcille had lost a lot of blood in this battle and was almost out of magic, so they had to change their plans. First, Laios thought of waiting for other adventurers, but since the possibility of that happening was low, he came up with another idea. He and Senshi cooked up the liver of the kelpie in a barbeque style and had Marcille eat it to restore her energy.

Dungeon Meshi is a fantasy gourmet manga by Ryoko Kui. It started getting published in 2014. It is also licensed by Yen Press and published in English as ‘Delicious in Dungeon’. As of August 2022, 12 volumes have been released.
The story starts after a whole kingdom is sunk, and its survivor king promises his treasury to anyone who can defeat the culprit magician. Guilds are thus formed, and tons of adventures go on this journey.
The protagonist loses his sister to a dragon on one such journey and promises to bring her back. On his way, he and his party need to survive by cooking monsters inside the dungeon.
