Delicious in Dungeon Episode 4 introduced viewers to the less desirable side of dungeon politics with the Orcs, and it was nice to see serious conflicts in this world. This could’ve easily been a surface-level show about cooking, but it’s clear that much effort also went into the worldbuilding.
After learning about Senshi’s life and how he deeply cares about the dungeon, they face the orcs. Their experience with these monsters wasn’t the most pleasant, to say the least. After some bittersweet confrontations with them, the group gathers important information on the dragon and moves forward again.
1. Episode 5 Release Date
Episode 5 of “Delicious in Dungeon” will be released on Thursday, February 1, 2024. It is usually released every Thursday, and you can watch the episode as soon as it is released on Netflix.
I. Is “Delicious in Dungeon” on a Break?
No, “Delicious in Dungeon” is not on a break this week, and Episode 5 should be released as usual on the above-mentioned date.
2. Episode 5 Speculation
We will most likely see Laios and his party venture into the fifth floor after leaving the orcs behind. We may or may not look into the past of another party member since we just peeked into Senshi’s life. The fifth floor was also the place where they fought the dragon the first time, but it is unlikely that the dragon will be there right now.
Laios has the map that will guide them to the dragon, but by any chance, if they run into the dragon there, we will see a spectacular fight as Laios puts his life on the line for his sister. What kind of danger awaits them on the fifth floor is a big mystery, but the bigger mystery is what kind of food they will come across on this new floor.
3. Recap of Episode 4
The opening half of this episode sees the party arrive at Senshi’s home in the dungeon. It turns out that the dwarf doesn’t leave the dungeon except to trade. He was on his way home when he ran into the party in episode one. The level of harmony with which he is living with some of the dungeon’s other denizens is awesome.
We also learn that Senshi tends to other areas of the dungeon. While he gets some benefit from these activities, it’s clear that he is deeply concerned about maintaining the balance within the dungeon. While the party welcomes many of the revelations concerning Senshi, his interactions with some of the creatures in the dungeon break rules concerning magic.
With a harvest of freshly grown vegetables in tow, Laios sets out to trade these items to a local merchant that had set up shop nearby. While trying to trade, however, orcs attack the merchants, killing everyone but the party, as Senshi happened to know them.
The Orcs tell Senshi and Laios that they have seen the Red Dragon they are looking for, as it has recently been wreaking havoc on their village. While the orc commander’s army gathers materials from the diner, he confronts Senshi and asks him to share his crops with him. The orc commander’s willing to kill Senshi if he doesn’t comply. Senshi strikes a deal with the commander.
Laios and the others confront Senshi about his decision and learn he doesn’t have a proper plan. The orc commander places our heroes inside a cage with a few chickens at his settlement. Senshi asks him to hand him some ingredients so he can make everyone some bread. When the bread is finished, the Orc attempts to take it for his people, but his son asks why they cannot all eat together.
After some resistance, the Orc allows Laios’ party to cook a full meal for everyone in their compound. Laios promises the Orc if he tells him the location of the Red Dragon, they will kill it without harming his village. The Orc agrees and gives him a map before eventually letting them go.

Dungeon Meshi is a fantasy gourmet manga by Ryoko Kui. It started getting published in 2014. It is also licensed by Yen Press and published in English as ‘Delicious in Dungeon’. As of August 2022, 12 volumes have been released.
The story starts after a whole kingdom is sunk, and its survivor king promises his treasury to anyone who can defeat the culprit magician. Guilds are thus formed, and tons of adventures go on this journey.
The protagonist loses his sister to a dragon on one such journey and promises to bring her back. On his way, he and his party need to survive by cooking monsters inside the dungeon.
