‘Deji’ Meets Girl’s New Trailer has Our MCs Takes off in Surreal Reality

If you want a topsy turvy tale that will make you float, then look no further than the upcoming short anime series “‘Deji’ Meets Girl.”

The original short anime follows the curious mind of a bored high schooler Maise Higa who meets a mysterious boy named Ichirō Suzuki. Though they say love can give you butterflies in the stomach, no one ever mentioned the floating fishes that pop up near the boy. 

So she follows the trail of breadcrumbs to solve this fishy mystery.

The official website of “Deji” Meets Girl announced that the short anime series would premiere in the “Super Animeism” block on the MBS, TBS, and 26 other affiliated stations starting from October 1, every Friday around 25:50. Each anime episode will have a duration of 90 seconds.

The trailer is full of peculiar and fantastical happenings ranging from the aforementioned floating fishes to a Banyan tree that sprouts out of nowhere. And what’s more intriguing is that only Maise Higa can see, feel, and experience these peculiar events.  

“Deji” Meets Girl, produced by Studio Liden Films known for Cells at Work! Code Black and Tokyo Revengers first premiered at the Montreal Fantasia Film Festival on August 25, 2021.

Director Ushio Tazawa, known for works such as The Place Promised in Our Early Days, helmed the project. Additionally, Miu Miyamoto and Ryousuke Naya oversaw the anime’s art and music, respectively. While “Naminoue Seinendan” is credited with the original story.  

This upcoming anime is sure to leave us amazed, so don’t miss out. 

About ‘Deji’ Meets Girl

‘Deji’ Meets Girl is a Japanese original short anime television series produced by Liden Films. It will premiere in October 2021.

The story begins one summer when Higa Maise, a listless first-year high school girl who works part-time at the front desk of her family’s hotel in Okinawa, meets “Suzuki Ichirou,” a mysterious youth who came alone from Tokyo as a hotel guest.

Since Suzuki’s arrival, “deji” things have been happening around Maise, like fish swimming around the room. (“Deji” is an Okinawan word that means “totally” or “very.”)
