Defeat the Black Loong in a Jiffy with this Guide – Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong has a whole host of interesting Bosses and battles. With cool-looking Bosses and their amazing powers, the battles become something to look forward to.

One such battle is with the Black Loong, an optional secret Yaoguai King boss fight in Chapter 2 of Black Myth Wukong. Hidden behind a sand geyser in the Fright Cliff, Black Loong is one of four Loong Dragons that can defeated to earn powerful weapon crafting materials.

To defeat the Black Dragon Loong-

  • Use the Pillar Stance to rise above attacks like the electric arc slam. It lets you take zero damage.
  • Azure Dust Transformation will interrupt Loong’s strong combos and has a good stagger rate.
  • The Pluck of Many will let you land multiple hits to annoy and whittle down the HP of Loong.
  • Understand the Attack patterns of Black Dragon Loong to dodge and attack accordingly.
  • Buy medicines to boost up your resistance to shock attacks, and other items like Thunderbolt Horn Soak.

The Black Dragon Loong is a formidable Boss in Chapter 2 of Black Myth. The way to defeat the Black Loong is to use kite tactics. At least, I have found it to be the most efficient way.

The Black Dragon Loong has a huge stature. Although he uses electric attacks that deal a lot of damage, they are relatively easy to avoid once you get the hang of it.

Using the Pillar Stance, for instance, you can get on any of the uplifted stone platforms littered across the field and dodge high-damage AOE electric currents of Black Dragon Loong. Using the Azure Dust Transformation (you obtain it by defeating the Man-In-Stone in Chapter 2), you can slow Loong down further and stagger him with a high success rate.

The preparation is the most important part of the fight. Sufficient resistance to Loong’s attacks will let you take a hit or two in case of a slip-up. Buying the Thunderbolt Horn Soak before the battle is recommended as it makes the battle much easier.

2. Understanding the Attack Patterns of Black Loong

The Black Dragon Loong has a lot of varied attacks, making him a valuable combat experience in Black Myth. He focuses on dealing slow but sure explosive damage by using mainly electric-based attacks. Let us take a look at the attack patterns of Black Loong-

Slam Attack

  • Electric Mace
  • Black Loong gears up his twin maces with electricity and repeatedly slams them into the ground as the battle progresses. The precursor is the lightning arcs around the weapons. Dodge towards his legs to escape the AOE.
  • Lightning Slash
  • Black Loong has a lot of attacks that can easily be dodged, but this is not one of them. The attacks are slow, and the Boss gestures to slash the air twice. The lightning arcs spread linearly. Dodge carefully to the side.
Shock Wave Slam

  • Shock Wave Slam
  • The most interesting attack of Black Loong is the Shock Wave Slam. The Boss slams the ground multiple times to rack up waves of electric currents that deal massive damage in a huge AOE. Use the Staff Stance or get on the rocks to avoid it.
  • Electric Ring Dance
  • The part of the Boss battle that you are most likely to experience difficulty with- is when the Boss Loong emits lightning from his mouth and gets enraged. A drum sound plays in the background, and the Black Loong starts banging the ground. With each strike, his attacks travel further, making predicting harder. They wipe away at your health very quickly, so tread carefully.

  • Sandstorm
  • Black Dragon Loong has an attack that uses the environment around him. The sand rises up and blocks your vision and movement. The way to counter this is using the Wind Tamer vessel (Fuban Boss Chapter 2) to break through the Sandstorm. After breaking the Sandstrom, Black Loong gets an automatic stun for a substantial duration.
