Music has the power to make the heart sing and Deemo Memorial Keys anime does just that.
Deemo Memorial Keys anime film follows a lonely girl, Alice. Her life fills up with colors of music after meeting a gothic Deemo. Together their fairytale journey begins and the magic spreads.
The teaser shows Future offering a trumpet to Alice while Deemo introduces the piano to Alice. The melodious upbeat music is “Nine Point Eight” from the original 2013 rhythm game.
Nine point eight represents the acceleration of gravity on a falling object (-9.8 m/s²).
The original song is sung by Mili where the flowers under the girl’s dress have deep meaning. The flowers named in the lyrics of the song are calla lily, carnation, daisy, chrysanthemum, kalanchoe, and lisianthus.
Calla lily symbolizes beauty. For carnation, it mostly depends on the color, but they generally symbolize love and beauty, and in some cases longing. Daisy stands for innocence and purity, to be more exact for loyalty.
Chrysanthemum conveys optimism. Yellow chrysanthemum stands for slighted love or one-sided love while kalanchoe stands for lasting affection.
Together they could mean something along the lines of “Even if you can’t (don’t) love me back, I still love you.”
I’m curious to see how the original rhythm game song will play out in the film. The tragic meaning behind the flowers in the song, I hope that doesn’t happen in Deemo Memorial Keys.
