Death Stranding 2: On The Beach – Will there be a PC Release?

Fans of the Death Stranding franchise are speculating whether Death Stranding 2 will come to PC.

The game’s recent 10-minute cinematic trailer, which showcased breathtaking landscapes, impressive photorealistic visuals, relaxed gameplay, and thrilling cutscenes, didn’t mention a PC release.

1. Will Death Stranding 2 be released for PC?

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is set to release as a PlayStation 5 exclusive on 26th June, 2025. When the game was first revealed in 2022, it seemed unlikely that it would ever make its way to non-PlayStation consoles.

With Sony deeply involved in the game’s development, from publishing to production, the idea of a multiplatform release seemed highly unlikely. However, the situation surrounding Death Stranding 2’s exclusivity has shifted dramatically.

On November 7, 2024, Kojima Productions, alongside publisher 505 Games, surprised everyone with the Death Stranding: Director’s Cut for the Xbox Series X/S.

Along with the release, Kojima Productions announced that it had acquired the Death Stranding IP from Sony Interactive Entertainment, making this Xbox port possible.

Now that the studio fully controls the franchise, it’s much more likely that Death Stranding 2 will eventually make its way to both Xbox and PC, despite being published by Sony.

2. When will Death Stranding 2 be released for PC?

At the moment, Death Stranding 2 is confirmed only for the PS5, with no official word on a PC version. However, there’s a good chance Death Stranding 2 could follow the same path as the original Death Stranding.

The first game made its way to Windows nine months after the PS4 release, while the Director’s Cut was ported to PC just seven months after its PS5 debut. Based on this, we can reasonably expect the gap between the PS5 and PC versions of Death Stranding 2 to be similar.

Kojima Productions is willing to bring its games to various platforms, so Death Stranding 2 will surely make its way to PC. If the first game’s release timeline is anything to go by, we can expect Death Stranding 2 on PC sometime in early 2026.

Based on the timeline of Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, which took about three years to arrive on Xbox after its PlayStation release, we might see Death Stranding 2 on Xbox around 2028.

By that time, it’s possible that the game could skip the Xbox Series X/S altogether and be released exclusively for the next-gen Xbox consoles, similar to how the original skipped the Xbox One.
