Ryan Reynolds Is Not 100% Sure When Deadpool 3 Might Start Filming

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is great and all that, but if there’s one Marvel character outside the MCU that fans are always eager for, it’s the charming mercenary with a big, foul mouth, Deadpool. And by the looks of it, he has become a math nerd, talking probabilities and statistics.

How, you might ask? Well, Deadpool’s alter ego, Ryan Reynolds, has said there’s a 70% chance of Deadpool 3 starting filming next year.

When Collider’s Steve Weintraub asked him about the chances of Deadpool 3 starting filming in 2022, Reynolds answered,

The percentage chance? I don’t know. I couldn’t assign a percentage to that. I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape. What the hell month is it? August? Oh, next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.

Reynolds also mentioned that Emmy Award-winning sisters Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux are currently working hard on the screenplay, with him overseeing the writing process.

It’s something that is just a daily process. Writing is kind of like that, you’ve gotta allot time to do it and walk away, and I’m working with the Molyneuxs on it, it’s been great. They’re incredibly talented and so, so smart. They so understand that world and know how to zig when everyone’s expecting a zag, so it’s been a lot of fun.

Deadpool 3 is currently without a release date or a director, so one shouldn’t expect it before 2023. But hey, any progress is better than Wade Wilson just ghosting on us.

Kevin Feige

Earlier in January this year, Marvel boss Kevin Feige assured fans that Deadpool would be able to run his mouth freely without Disney beeping it all out. In other words, Disney’s acquisition of Fox won’t make Wade Wilson PG & spoil the R-rated franchise.

It will be rated R, and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.

The X-men universe and MCU are bound to merge eventually. Phase 4 has been dropping hints with WandaVision having Quicksilver star as Fietro/Ralph Bohner. And Loki finale has unleashed a multiverse, so anything seems possible.

Rumors have it that Spider-Man: No Way Home will have Andrew Garfield and Toby McGuire’s Spideys along with Tom Holland’s MCU version. They can definitely make some space for Deadpool and bring to life the pages of Spider-Man/Deadpool comics.

I mean, come on… who doesn’t want this iconic dance to be canon?

Now that we know Korg and Deadpool are best buddies, maybe a crossover event isn’t off the table.
