Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction Series Release After Two Part Movie

After premiering as a two-part film – part one will be released on March 22, and part two will be released on May 24 only in Japan, Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction is getting an anime adaptation. Crunchyroll has announced the anime adaptation of the popular apocalyptic graphic novel by Asano Inio, known for Goodnight Punpun.

Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction will start streaming on May 23, 2024, at 8:00 PM PT in an episodic format. The 18-episode series will be released weekly and feature brand-new footage that has never been seen in theaters before.

Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction will be available to stream on Crunchyroll in over 200 countries and territories worldwide as an all-new 18-episode television series starting May 23, 2024.

Updates on the New Anime Adaptation

Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction is being produced by studio Production +h, known for the anime The Orbital Children. The anime is directed by Tomoyuki Kurokawa, who also directed the PSYCHO-PASS series. Violet Evergarden and A Silent Voice screenplay writer Reiko Yoshida are also part of the team.

The voice actors giving life to the Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction‘s characters are Lilas Ikuta, also known as ikura, a singer-songwriter and vocalist of the popular music group YOASOBI, who will be voicing Kadode Koyama. The voice behind Oshi No Ko’s Mem-cho, ano, plays Oran Nakagawa.

The original movie theme song, “ZeZeZeZettai Seiiki,” performed by ano and featuring Lilas Ikuta, will also be part of the new television version of Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction.

The official synopsis describes Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction as:

As the world is threatened by the sudden appearance of a mysterious alien mothership, best friends Kadode Koyama and Oran “Ontan” Nakagawa carry on about their high school life. But as they grow up, they face existential questions, learning adulthood’s complexities and that the true threat may not be from above.

The story follows two high school friends, Koyama Kadode and Nakagawa Oran as they navigate life in a Tokyo that is overshadowed by a mysterious alien mothership. Amidst this looming extraterrestrial threat, they struggle through the challenges of growing up and learn about the hardships of what it really means to be an adult.
