Coming straight from the source, DC Comics has launched a real-life version of The Daily Planet for fans to follow and keep up with the company’s latest projects. The iconic newspaper that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing in comics and on TV or films is now something you can see in real life.
The online newspaper was recently launched as a part of the official DC Comics site but now has a separate website. Currently, the front page holds news articles from canon DC Comics characters like Deb Donovan, Clark Kent, and Cat Grant.
The stories include Unstoppable Doom Patrol’s coverage of the increasing metahuman population, Superman getting LuthorCorp’s keys in Superman, and Action Comics’ Super Twins. Here’s a glimpse of the online newspaper in the image below:
Unfortunately, these articles are not actual full-length reports but just short introductions to the comics that include the aforementioned storylines. DC Comics using the Daily Planet as an actual portal to keep fans updated about upcoming or latest projects is a genius move. But I think there might be more to it.
The online newspaper also has an ads column, and while the Belly Burger ad might not hint at something, I definitely see some hints in the other advertisements. For example, the ad for Gotham Academy’s open student registrations might be DC’s way of saying the famous series might continue.
Or the Ferris Aircraft ad might allude to a new Green Lantern series since we know Hal Jordan worked for Carol Ferris as a test pilot before gaining his powers. I know it might sound far reaching, but this sort of teasing can be expected from DC.
The newspaper also links to new and old comics, films, shows, and everything about the DC universe, creating an all-in-one hub for fans to turn to for any news on the media franchise. So, what are you waiting for? Visit The Daily Planet and stay tuned to it and Cine Dope for brand-new updates on the DCU and more!
