Dragon Ball Super follows the adventures of Goku and Vegeta as they face galaxy-wide threats and meet the gods of the universe! In the latest arc, ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner Saga’, Goku and Vegeta are currently training to beat the planet-eater Moro.
While the question, ‘Will Goku and Vegeta be able to beat Moro’s magic?’, is the most pressing concern; fans have been wondering about the true identity of Merus.
In the latest chapter, ‘Chapter 55: Merus’s True Identity’, the Grand Priest and Whis reveals that Merus is a trainee angel dispatched by the Grand Preist to learn more about the mortal world.
Merus was introduced as the #1 Galactic Petrol agent. Even with his small stature and low physical prowess, Merus was able to sneak up on Goku and Vegeta and knock both of them out cold. Since then, Merus’ identity has been a big secret until now.
Grand Priest explains that while he planned to help Merus understand the side of good and evil, the trainee angel has grown unbiased and supports the side of good. While this is supposedly a good thing, taking sides is the prime taboo for the angels.
However, just when he was ready to call Merus back, Whis interrupted. He threw light on the fact that Merus has only been using mortal weapons instead of his angelic powers and is now training Goku instead of indulging in a ‘battle’ with him. This is not supposed to be against the laws. This was proved at the end of the chapter when Whis interrupted a ‘full-on battle practice’ between Merus and Goku and took Merus to the angel realm.
We don’t know what will happen next in the angel realm between Whis and Merus. However, this came out as a relief more than a shock to the die-hard Dragon Ball fans. After such amazing adventures, if we are going to meet someone who can knock our two favourite saiyajins just like that, he better be nothing short of an angel.
