They give her drugs and record the reactions they have, but soon spirits from Kurumi, a.k.a Nightmare, enter the facility, freeing the girl.
Back at Ratatoskr, Shido gets his checkup, and Reine tells him that everything looks good. His friends worry for him, and to thank them, he promises to cook for them. He goes grocery shopping and finds a girl passed out in a dark alley. Is she a random stranger?

Episode 2 Speculations
Nightmare frees Nia from the D.E.M., and it spares poor Nia a lot of torture and pain, but her intentions don’t seem to be good. She says it’s nice to meet Nia finally and calls her spirit “sister,” but she says it in a menacing tone. What does she plan to do with Nia later?
Ratatoskr works very hard to get Nia to fall for Shido without even bothering to hide from her. Nia was being seductive at first, but later she said that she couldn’t fall for someone who wasn’t 2D. So I guess she will fall for Shido because he’s as 2D as it gets.

Episode 1 Recap
A white-haired girl is strapped to a chair with wires coming out of her body. Some researchers behind the glass are looking at how her body responds to the drugs they’re giving her.
Suddenly, Kurumi, a.k.a Nightmare, breaks into the facility with her spirits and blows it up. Her spirits kill the researchers. Her actual body is seen standing on a cliff, where she says that it’s been a pleasure to meet her.
At Ratatoskr facility, Shido wakes up on the hospital bed after some tests were conducted on him. Reine comes in and informs him of the results and says that the path connecting him to the spirits has normalized.
Tohka and the others come in and ask Shido about his health. He says he’s fine and will go out shopping for dinner later. As he finished shopping, he saw a girl lying unconscious in a dark alley. He asked her if she was okay, and she said she fell because she was hungry.
Shido gives the girl a piggyback ride to her home and discovers that she is his favorite manga artist, who he thought was a man. He cooks her food, and she gobbles it up in seconds.
She asks him to stay and help her out with drawing the manga since she has a deadline. They drew all afternoon while the girl, Nia, wore a maid outfit. She tried to seduce him, but it did not work.
Nia then revealed her true identity as a spirit girl. She also told Shido that she knows his job is to make spirit girls fall for him. She wasn’t producing any manga because the D.E.M had kept her in captivity.
Nina proposes that they go out on a date in Akihabara, and so they do, but Kotori from Ratatoskr keeps giving him dating advice. At the end of the date, as they’re about to kiss, Nia tells him that she wouldn’t mind being sealed, but she can only love 2D characters.

Girls known as spirits are the cause of spatial earthquakes in a dystopian future. Shido discovers that the only way to seal such spirits is to make them fall in love with him and kiss him. Shido has to seal as many spirits as he can to save the world.
