Halo Infinite’s beta test recently went live for members of the Halo Insider program, giving fans a close look at the new game’s multiplayer mode.
As the beta is the first time any playable content has been shared with players, data miners have been hard at work trying to discover nuggets of information that reveal more about the latest addition to the Halo franchise. And it seems that they might have struck gold.
According to a recent thread on ResetEra, a voice clip found in Halo Infinite’s preview files features the iconic announcer saying the word “Battle Royale.”
While many believe this to be a confirmation of the mode, it could also simply be an audio file leftover from canceled content or even stray dialogue. So, it would be wise not to get too excited.
Notably, this is not the first time rumors of a Battle Royale in the game have cropped up.
The inclusion of Battle Royale was denied by developer 343 Industries back in 2019. But seeing how the development of Halo Infinite has seen significant changes since then, the mode may indeed arrive for the game.
Battle Royale could be an excellent fit for Halo Infinite. The feature has gained a large audience globally thanks to games like PlayUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone.
Additionally, Halo Infinite’s multiplayer is completely free as well, so Battle Royale could significantly boost player numbers.
Along with this hint at a Battle Royale, fans should also know that some beta files have campaign-related spoilers.
Joseph Staten, Halo Infinite’s Creative Head, revealed this unintentional inclusion, so you might want to practice caution when treading across some corners of the internet.
Before the Halo Infinite beta launch, fans got a sneak peek at how the game holds up on an Xbox One. If you’d like to read more about that, we’ve got you covered with the button below.
If you wish to hear the voice file that says “Battle Royale,” head on to Vocaroo and press play.
