The epic Zack Snyder’s Justice League was one of the finest DCEU movies ever, to say the least.
The incredible direction, superheroes, and supervillains lingered on the audience’s minds as much as a significant plot hole—how did Darkseid forget Anti-Life Equation’s location i.e. Earth?
In an interview with FandomWire, Ray Porter, who voiced Darkseid, tried to defend the plot hole.
Porter talked about Darkseid’s countless encounters with thousands of planets and how he must have forgotten about it amidst the centuries of knowledge he possesses.
Consider the fact that he’s turned a hundred thousand worlds to dust; it was so long ago that he found this equation and then it was taken from him in battle and he always wanted to ‘re-find’ it. We are talking so many thousands of years, so many planets, universes, and possible Earths [hinting that he’s aware of a multiverse]. Uxas, the person who became Darkseid, has also changed so much in that long timespan.”
The actor continued that it would have been natural for him to forget one specific planet amongst many and his hatred for Steppenworlf.
So, for someone whose knowledge spans so much, maybe the knowledge got lost in the vastness that it was on this Earth in particular. And then, Steppenwolf, of all people approaches him about this.”
The Anti-Life Equation was a formula that could give someone total control over sentients’ minds. However, in the movie, Darkseid easily forgets that the formula is on Earth, which was also the planet where he suffered his greatest defeat.
The audience felt it a bit unsettling for one of the greatest DCEU villains to forget such a major detail. However, Porter’s explanation does give us some respite.
Moreover, conversations around #RestoreTheSnyderVerse are as buzzing as ever. It now remains to be seen whether or not Warner Bros will open its doors to Snyder again.
