Season 4 of DanMachi continues to be highly action-heavy, which has made each episode immensely enjoyable so far. For many fans, it feels like a return to DanMachi’s first season. The main difference between the first and fourth seasons is the large array of characters that is now available.
Aisha and Welf got a significant amount of screen time in Episode 4, so it looks like the series is okay with anyone taking the lead right now, which complements DanMachi’s fantastic worldbuilding.
While there was plenty of action, the tale didn’t get much further than presenting the mermaid Marie and what appeared to be her monster-controlling abilities.
Episode 5 Speculations
We can expect a pretty intense battle between the party members and the seemingly never-ending monsters. Bell is also on his way with the mermaid Marie to help the party members.
They all would be pretty surprised after looking at a mermaid, and their reaction to Marie is something to look forward to.

Episode 4 Recap
After the interaction between Bell and the mermaid Marie, he thinks about why hasn’t she attacked yet. Marie was friendly and healed Bell’s wounds by making him swallow her blood.
The other party members are still fighting the monsters. After they start moving, Dormul tells how the monster smartly put the corpses of the adventurers under rocks, so they can’t be discovered. They all conclude that only Bell’s magic works against Huge Moss, so everyone decides to use fire magic.
Marie wanders off somewhere and following her singing voice, Bell tracks her down. He tells her he must return to his party and needs her help. Marie wants him to stay there because she thinks Bell might get killed. But he reassures her, and both start heading toward the monster.
The party members stopped at a place, and Aisha could feel the tension in the air. A parade of countless monsters greeted them. They are pinned down from all sides. They finish off some of them and start running. The party spends pretty much of the episode just fighting the monsters.
Marie uses her mermaid song to find a more docile monster willing to help them. After they had reached a place where there was no water beyond, they stopped. Marie wanted to go with Bell too. The monster from before came in nonchalantly, and Bell swung Marie into his arms and fled.
Aisha tells herself that the party has grown stronger even without Bell and that they genuinely deserve praise. The episode ends at a cliff-hanger where the party is surrounded by randomly spawning monsters. They fall back into a defensive circle and wait to make their move.
