Damsel director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo provides a positive update on Damsel 2. The Netflix movie is Millie Bobby Brown’s third collaboration with the streaming giant after Stranger Things and Enola Holmes.

In the Inside Total Film podcast, Fresnadillo addressed the chances of a possible sequel. The director mentioned that the chances of Damsel 2 would largely depend on the audience’s reception of the first film. He also said that he would be ‘so happy’ to make the sequel.

I mean, I will be so happy to do a sequel for Damsel. But obviously, we have to wait to see what the audience thinks and how they react to the movie. It’s true that the universe of Damsel is really open. Especially because, you know, of the new configuration of the family. In the story [there’s] this new member, we shouldn’t say too much about that [but] it invites you to think about more adventures with them. So definitely, if that happens, I will be so happy to make it for sure.
At the time of writing, it is too difficult to predict whether Damsel 2 will happen, given Damsel only just debuted on Netflix. The chances will depend on the audience’s reaction and the viewership of the first movie.
Currently, the film has a modest 60% critics score based on 70 reviews. Although it’s an improvement on the 56% that the film started with, the ratings are expected to change as more reviews come in.
