Rejoice otakus! A new anime is on the way! CyberAgent and its subsidiary Cybergames Pictures announced on August 28, 2024, the production of ‘Apocalypse Hotel’. It is going to be an original TV animation and they even released a teaser to tickle our curiosity.
The anime is slated for premiere in 2025, so anime lovers don’t have to wait too long. The premise is unique, with elements of post-apocalyptic survival slice-of-life genres.
1. When is Apocalypse Hotel going to be released?
Cybergames Pictures has not given us a concrete timeline as to the release of the new ‘Apocalypse Hotel’. The tentative estimate is 2025, likely in the latter half of the year. So it could be a Fall anime.
The production studios CyberAgent have created the official X handle for Apocalypse Hotel and shared announcements both via the teaser and through official channels. The official website is also up and running.
Cygames Pictures have recently worked to produce the Brave band Bravern! Anime. It was recently released in January 2024. Not only that, there are good things in the making at the same studio since they are in charge of the production of Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray.
From what we know so far, the Original Character Designs are going to be done by Izumi Takemoto, a famed old hand at manga illustrations.
Shigeru Murakoshi is working his magic in the screenplay section, with many works like Seven Deadly Sins, Ninja Kamui, and Zombieland Saga under his belt. The series is all but confirmed to be interesting.
2. What is the Apocalypse Hotel about?
The Apocalypse Hotel is set in Ginza, a once-thriving district on Earth now devoid of humanity and in ruins. The story takes place in an old, historic hotel, a haunting remnant of the past, where civilization has long since collapsed.
The Apocalypse Hotel Is aptly named. The setting and backdrop of the Hotel are that Earth has been overrun. By what? we haven’t the foggiest. But nature has taken control and reclaimed all that man built.
All except one, the Apocalypse Hoel, which, one would believe, will act as the luxurious, safe haven for any stragglers left to walk the Earth. It could be a rich man’s paradise but the official summary suggests something more supernatural.
The Earth where mankind has disappeared and civilization has collapsed.
In a desolate town, where nature has slowly reclaimed its breath, a single hotel with a long history remained standing in this world weaved by nature.
“Currently, the number of guests staying: 0, new reservations for today: 0, homepage views yesterday: 0. Goal not achieved.”
This is the story that unfolds in a hotel where humanity no longer exists.
The official summary leaves us excited and a whole lot more curious than the Teaser. Maybe the non-human protagonist era is back in anime? Maybe we can see dimensional travel to achieve a number of guests?
We do not know. We can only speculate. For a whole year, and that is slightly annoying but good things come to those who are patient. So, let’s wait as we have fervent debates on online communities as to just what could be happening in this Apocalypse Hotel?
The Teaser for the Apocalypse Hotel tickles the audience with the soundtrack by famous songwriter AIKO. The name of the track is ‘Skirt’. We get to see the blueprints of the Apocalypse Hotel throughout the teaser and get a solid visual at the end.
The teaser is called so because it awakens us from our slumber and makes us curious about the series’ happenings. The Apocalypse Hotel might be in the earlier stages of its work.
The reason the Teaser gave us the soundtrack is likely that the design of the characters or the setting and backdrop of the Apocalypse Hotel are not finalized yet.
We know the series is slated for release in a year, so we can bear with it until the masters work their magic and give us a trailer (hopefully sooner rather than later). Until then, we can only speculate about the story and fantasize about the character style.
At least one less thing for anime lovers to worry about: the soundtrack is by AIKO. The others will have to be put on wait, as we watch like hawks for any news at all about this new anime. Until then, let’s add it to our watch lists and relax in the background.
