CD Projekt Red studio’s game information has been leaked quite a few times by the Polish podcasters Rock and Borys.
As per the latest leak, the Polish Podcasters “Rock and Borys” have confirmed that the release of the new expansion of Cyberpunk 2077 will occur between the Summer Game Fest on June 8th and early July. The upcoming DLC has been named “Phantom Liberty,” this release date is sooner than expected.’
This DLC was initially announced sometime after the very buggy launch of Cyberpunk 2077. A recent social media post also revealed that the developers wanted a unique “hands-on” experience.
This hands-on experience will reportedly be limited to members of the press and content creators during the Summer Game Fest. It was also reported that players could demo the Phantom Liberty DLC before it launched.
The new leaked date of June 8th to early July also conforms with the internal dates previously confirmed by a CD Projekt Red insider.
The podcasters have also confirmed that the contacts at CPDR have informed them that the development and finalization of the Phantom Liberty DLC are progressing well.
It is expected that the DLC will drop a month after the official announcement by CPDR. In-game, V and Johnny Silverhand will be exploring Dogtown.
Dogtown is the hub of crime and corruption, so much so that Reed, at one point, suggests burning the whole place down to the ground. Another rumor suggests that Falco from the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners could also appear.
Being only rumors, fans must not indulge in them too much. However, if the rumors have some element of truth in them, we could get a glimpse of the unforgiving Night City as soon as June 8th during the Summer Game Fest Livestream.
About Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.
Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
