Cyberpunk 2077’s 1.06 Hotfix Mends Save File Bug

Cyberpunk 2077 houses a ton of bugs. One such bug that initially escaped most eyes related to saved files. In this bug, the save files got corrupted after crossing a specific limit. The error made many enthusiasts lose out on their progress while playing the RPG.

A week after Cyberpunk 2077’s launch, many enthusiasts came across the save file error. Whenever the RPG’s save file exceeded the 8MB mark, the file used to go corrupt. Consequently, the bug made players lose out on their game progress.

If anything, this bug was a party-pooper. Imagine spending hours grinding through a faulty game, unlocking countless new stuff. Then the very next day, all your hard work goes down the drain.

Initially, Projekt Red gave a brief fix tutorial to help enthusiasts get over the trouble of losing save files. The solution was to avoid overloading your inventory with a bunch of stuff.

What led to a meltdown was the fact that there were no comments about permanently solving the bug. All that CD Projekt said was that “the save file size limit might be increased in one of the future patches.”
