Cyberpunk 2077 first came out on December 10th, 2020. While the launch was buggy and underwhelming, developers of CD Projekt Red worked hard to make it into one of the best games ever made in the two years since the release. The developers have one final card to play before they move on to the next title in the pipeline.
CD: Projekt Red announced they will release Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition on December 5th, 2023. This will give players access to the main title and the latest Phantom Liberty Expansion pack on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
This will be the first time Cyberpunk 2077 comes in a physical copy for the current-gen PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The only other physical copies were for the previous-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
CDPR global community director Marcin Momot confirmed on Twitter that the Xbox Series X|S will have the complete title with the Phantom Liberty expansion on the disk. This has led to three discs for the Xbox Series X|S.
The PlayStation 5 will however have the base game on the disc with the Phantom Liberty available as a download code. The PC version will have a GOG code for both the base title as well as the Phantom Liberty expansion.
Marcin Momot explained that those confused by the different packaging need not worry about the exclusion of game content. The other number of discs is just because of the specific technical requirements for each platform.
This will probably be the last and final packaging that Cyberpunk 2077 comes in. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be the go-to for all players who want a complete Cyberpunk Experience, released on December 5th.
About Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.
Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
