CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 is a game where players assume V’s role from a first-person perspective. Now thanks to the modding community, the role-playing game will also offer a third-person view.
One of the best things about Cyberpunk 2077 is the potential it offers when it comes to player customization. Everything can be modified from choosing your character’s gender to hair, beard, and clothes as per your preferences.
Cineagle is developing the mod that will allow Cyberpunk 2077 to offer a third-person camera view. Currently, the game offers only first-person POV. From running to combating, you will see V do it all. It is currently a work in progress.
The mod will give Cyberpunk 2077 the same dimension as The Witcher 3. Geralt of Rivia is a beautifully designed character, and the third-person view helps us admire it.
Given that Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person game, proper implementation of this mod will take effort and time. There are problems with animations. The mod, as of now, does not capture the essence that a next-gen game should have.
The body shows no movement whatsoever. Only the hands and legs move in to and fro. It seems a bit static to me. A lot of work is needed to polish the third-person viewpoint.
One solution to make the animation seem realistic is to copy the movement that NPCs of Cyberpunk 2077 rely upon and pasting the same on V.
Cineagle is making use of the same tool as Dirt 5 to make Cyberpunk 2077’s third-person mod. However, it will take a lot of time for Projekt Red’s game to be compatible with the mod. There are a lot of complexities that need to be addressed.
But if solved, Cyberpunk 2077 will reach a new level altogether.
About Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.
Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
