Cyberpunk 2077: Swimming More Like A Nightmarish Dream

Players can swim in Cyberpunk 2077. However, looking at V’s shadow while doing that might ruin their sleep!

One of the biggest launches of the year, Cyberpunk was highly praised for its narrative and futuristic setting. However, it received widespread criticism for its glitches, bugs, and animation mistakes. Another similar bug has now popped up.

If the player decides to enjoy a good swim in the ocean, they should avoid looking at V’s silhouette in the water to not get nightmares later.

Players are allowed to swim, dive, and explore the water in the vast world of Night City. However, they’re advised not to look at V’s grotesque shadow.  V’s shadow while swimming appears to have broken knees and flailing arms that are enough to trigger nightmares later.

In a gameplay video shared by Redditor u/Cobah, the player is making V swim in the ocean. The way V swims seems horrifying to watch. If V just floats, then the shadow cast resembles a human figure.

The moment Cobah moved V, the shadow’s legs appeared to be broken at the knees and had arms flailing around. Talk about swimming with a demonic shadow from another dimension!

Other players have reported experiencing similar glitches in shadow animation while exploring the Badlands. It appears that the character and its shadow are two different beings with non-coinciding animations.

These shadow animations are remindful of games from the early 2000s where even after the protagonist’s death, their bodies would continue to perform actions. It is amusing to see the dead character glitch and flop around, failing all reasoning and logic.

This glitch prompts the question, Why shadows and characters in Cyberpunk 2077 have separate animations? Whatever the answer, you should entertain yourself with this glitch until it’s patched.

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
