CD Projekt Red Discusses Future of Cyberpunk 2077 and Witcher Update

We are just ten days away from the first anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077, and it’s been a tumultuous ride. The game was an absolute mess at launch on older generation consoles; so bad that it had to be pulled from the PlayStation Store, and CD Projekt Red offered refunds for whoever decided they didn’t want to deal with the glitches.

Since then, the title has received several updates that added several fixes, and the game is in a much better state now than a year ago. Given that, the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077 has revealed when we can expect the next-gen patch, along with updates for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

As the current state of Cyberpunk 2077 is now far more stable, CD Projekt Red is looking at the future of the title. They have narrowed the release of the game’s next-gen console update to the first quarter of 2022. However, the date is unspecified. Shortly after, we can also expect the next-gen release of The Witcher 3 in the second quarter of 2022

The studio will also continue work on the game, adding the polish and refining it still requires. They are also working with the development team and have promised a major Cyberpunk 2077 update shortly. No date has been given for this expansion either.

The original plan was to bring more content to the game post-launch, but this was pushed back as all hands were needed to get Cyberpunk 2077 in working condition. The dev’s efforts have been rewarded, as people have started picking up the game more now, especially during the Steam Sale, but there is still a long journey ahead.

The fans seem to be optimistic about the future of the game, but there is still a list of features that have been requested and are yet to be added. Such as the ability to change V’s appearance after the character customization screen. Or a transmogrification for the various items of clothing found in Night City.

We’re hoping these features will be added in an upcoming update soon and that the developers continue to support the game years after launch as there is a lot of potential in the world of Night City.

About Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.

Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
