I Walk The Line is a main quest in CDPR’s Cyberpunk 2077, where you join hands with the Voodoo Boys to burst into the Grand Imperial Mall and garner information from NetWatch. However, by the time this quest reaches its end, you will be put in a baffling dilemma!
When you enter the cinema’s control room, the Netrunner will persuade V to side with him and betray the Voodoo Boys. Given that Placide is a traitor, I think it’s better to team up with the NetWatch even if it makes your next quest challenging.
1. Cyberpunk 2077 I Walk The Line Choices: the Voodoo Boys or NetRunners?
I Walk The Line quest will present you with two choices:
- Either you can join hands with the Netrunner and betray the Voodoo boys or
- keep the word you gave to the Voodoo boys just to get backstabbed by them.
The decision you make in the I Walk The Line quest will influence the way your Cyberpunk 2077 story shapes. As a result, it’s vital for you to know all about the consequences the choice you make can bring.
2. Cyberpunk 2077 I Walk The Line: Siding with NetWatch Consequences
When NetWatch confronts V, he reveals that the Voodoo Boy does not care about you and plans to kill you. The only thing that the Voodoos care about is getting Brigitte and Ti back.
Therefore, if you choose to work with the NetRunner, let the NetWatch agent leave, and betray the Voodoo boys:
- The NetWatch agent will let you go unharmed and get rid of the virus that the Voodoo boys put in V’s system that could have killed him.
- The agent promises to release Brigitte and Ti Neptune, who the NetRunner captured.
- You will be instructed to meet with the Voodoo Boys outside the mall. On your way out, no animal will attack you, so feel free to loot!
- Johnny would be a bit annoyed at you but not as much as the Voodoo boys. Placide will be very hostile towards you, but Brigitte will be there to help you out.
- You will also have to deal with an extra boss fight in the next quest, transmission if you decide to part ways with the Voodoo boys.
Note: If you aim to please Johnny throughout Cyberpunk 2077, then don’t side with the NetRunner.
3. Cyberpunk 2077 I Walk The Line: Siding with the Voodoo Boys Consequence
The Night City is full of trickery, hypocrisy, and frauds. If you feel the same, then you probably wouldn’t listen to what the NetWatch agent has to say.
If you choose to work with the Voodoo Boys and betray the NetWatch:
- V will knock the agent out and then jack into his head.
- The bug that Placide placed inside your tech will wipe out all the agents without sparing an ounce of care for you.
- Siding with the Voodoo Boys will not make Johnny annoyed, but he will notice and discuss the ill intentions that Placide had.
- The fact that you were betrayed and harmed will make Brigitte furious with Placide, and consequently, she’ll offer to help you.
- You won’t have to fight any extra NPC in the next quest, as your relationship with the Voodoo Boys will still be maintained.
I Walk The Line is a quest that morally challenges you. Would you want to remain loyal to Placide, a backstabber, or break your word for a character who shows you the way out?
At the end of the day, I think it’s better to give Placide the taste of his own medicine and betray the Voodoo Boys. Who wants to team up with scum anyway? Even if you have to go against another boss, I think it’d be worth more than staying with a group who doesn’t care about you!
4. About Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.
Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
