CD Projekt Red today offered a preview of Cyberpunk 2077’s Patch 1.2 that is set to release by the end of March. The most notable changes to be incorporated in the upcoming update are reworked driving mechanics and the swift respawning of the police force.
Brimming with issues, Projekt Red vowed to work hard to fulfill the potential that the Night City had to offer. To do so, they addressed easily the most annoying bug of the game that involves Cyberpunk 2077’s justice system.
The Police response bug in Cyberpunk 2077 made the NCPD bizarrely fast. As soon as you commit a crime, police officers will start respawning next to V within seconds.
The rate at which the police respond to your crime is unearthly and therefore, required rectification.
Thanks to Patch 1.2, the Police will respond at a slower rate.
“This is an important step in addressing the behavior of the police in our game,”
CDPR Announcement
“It should decrease the problem of NPCs spawning behind players’ backs and create an impression that it takes some time for the police to arrive at the crime scene after the crime has been reported. We’ve also added a recon ‘drone’ unit to create the feeling of the police assessing the situation.”

If you also felt that Cyberpunk 2077’s needed better driving mechanics, then you are in luck too. Patch 1.2 will add “a Steering Sensitivity Slider to the Options menu.”
“This allows the steering speed for all vehicles and all input devices to be slowed down, without affecting the maximum turn radius.”
Senior Vehicle Programmer, Seamus
It came to the dev’s attention that when vehicles were being driven at lower frame rates, controlling them became a nuisance. Patch 1.2 should fix this error and make car handling free from the shackles of frame rates’ drops.
Here is a complete list of improvements that Patch 1.2 will bring to Cyberpunk 2077:
- Police respond more slowly
- Police appear to assess crime scenes with drones
- Adds a steering sensitivity slider
- Steering should be more consistent during dips in frame rate
- Stuck cars can be dislodged by rocking and rotating them
- Double-tapping a movement key to dodge can be disabled; double-tapping the crouch toggle key will then dodge
Currently, the exact release date for the arrival of Cyberpunk 2077’s Patch 1.2 hasn’t been revealed. Although, expect it to turn up by the end of March.
About Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt Red and published by CD Projekt, based on video game designer Mike Pondsmith’s game series.
Set in a dystopian cyberpunk universe, the player assumes the role of “V,” a mercenary in the fictional Californian city known as “Night City,” where they deal with the fallout from a heist gone wrong that results in an experimental cybernetic “bio-chip” containing an engram of the legendary rock star and terrorist Johnny Silverhand (played by Keanu Reeves) threatening to slowly overwrite V’s mind; as the story progresses V and Johnny must work together to find a way to be separated and save V’s life.
