Crunchyroll to Screen ‘Suzume no Tojimari’ Globally in April 2023

Makoto Shinkai, the movie magician, has wreaked havoc with his latest film Suzume no Tojimari. The film dethrones One Piece Film: Red from the #1 spot in Japan and has been ruling there since its release.

After conquering the Japanese box office, it’s time for the film to head for the global screens, and the one helping it there is none other than Crunchyroll.

With an English-subtitled trailer, Crunchyroll has revealed that it will release Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume no Tojimari anime film outside Asia in April 2023.

The film will premiere in theaters starting April 12, 2023, and here’s a list of all the release dates. Look out for your region and mark that date because you do not want to miss out on this one:

The company will soon announce release dates for other territories in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. As for other Asian countries, we’ll probably have to wait a little longer until Crunchyroll announces more regarding international screenings.

Suzume no Tojimari has surpassed its predecessor films, Your Name and Weathering With You, by a huge margin since its release in Japan. As of December 5, it is the top #87 film of all time in Japan and has earned over US$55.69 million in sales.

Considering it’s a Shinkai film, Suzume no Tojimari is bound to do wonders. After Your Name, the director has made himself known to the world, and people will definitely be lining up for the tickets this time.

About Suzume no Tojimari

Suzume no Tojimari is an anime film by Makoto Shinkai. It premiered on November 11, 2022. A novel adaptation was released in August 2022, also written by Shinkai.

The film focuses on Suzume, a 17-year-old girl who meets a young man looking for a door. Suzume finds a strange door among the ruins and opens it, but due to it many doors start opening around Japan, causing disasters. Now, Suzume has to close all of them to save Japan.
